EVENT DESCRIPTION
The Freedom West 50th Anniversary Celebration event is a celebration and recognition of the families, community members, government leaders, industry partners who made the original vision and mission of Freedom West possible 50 years ago!
Founded in 1973 in the wake of Urban Renewal, Freedom West was created to provide safe, affordable housing for low-income families of color. Using a co-op ownership model to enable housing stability and a pathway for underserved populations to build multi-generational wealth in a high-cost high-opportunity city.
With 50 years since its founding, Freedom West celebrates the resident, community, government, and industry partners who believe in the reimagining and the opportunity to set it on a pathway to self-sustainability so that the next generation will be able to hold the 100th Year Anniversary.
